British athletics great Mo Farah has said this year's London Marathon will likely be his last as he contemplates the end of a brilliant career.

The 40-year-old is best known for his success on the track winning gold in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres at both the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as well as several world titles across both distances.

And while his marathon career has reached nothing like the same heights, Farah is keen to run in London again after missing last year's edition even though he will be 40 by the time of the April 23 race

Farah has ruled out competing at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, but may yet try to finish his time as a British international at this year's World Championships in Budapest.

Farah last ran in London in 2019, coming fifth, having finished third the year before.

India's Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2023-24 on Feb 1 . She kicked off her speech by saying that the "world has recognised India as a bright star" and added that the country is recording healthy economic growth despite global uncertainties. Sitharaman was presenting her fifth full Budget after she took over as Finance Minister in July 2019.

The Jharkhand High Court on Feb 1  took suo-moto cognizance into the massive fire incident which engulfed a multi-storied residential building at Dhanbad on Tuesday claiming 14 lives, including 10 women and three children.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced Rs 4 lakh compensation for the family members of those who lost their near and dear ones in the fire incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives in the devastating fire and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next-of-kin of the deceased. PM Modi also announced that an amount of Rs 50,000 each has also been sanctioned for the injured in the incident.

A full-scale Light Combat Aircraft-Tejas aircraft in Final Operational Clearance (FOC) configuration will be at the centre stage of "India Pavilion" at Aero India 2023, to be held from February 13 to 17 at Yelahanka Air Force Station  in Bengaluru

LCA Tejas is a single-engine, light weight, highly agile, multi-role supersonic fighter. It has a quadruplex digital fly-by-wire Flight Control System (FCS) with associated advanced flight control laws.

The aircraft with delta wing is designed for 'air combat' and 'offensive air support' with 'reconnaissance' and 'anti-ship' as its secondary roles.

Tejas is equipped with state-of-the-art features like a glass cockpit, zero-zero ejection seat, inflight refueling probe and jam-proof AESA Radar, among others, which make the aircraft "more lethal".

LCA has come a long way in terms of development and presently available in Air Force fighter & twin seater and LCA Navy fighter and twin seater.

Other variants like LCA LIFT (Lead in fighter trainer) and MK-2 are being developed for LCA Tejas.

"I struggled," Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan said minutes after he walked out of jail on  Feb 2 to camera crews, a small curious crowd -- and to his wife and teen son, waiting patiently, just as they had for more than two years since he was imprisoned on his way to Hathras.

Kappan and three others were arrested in October 2020 while they were going to the Uttar Pradesh town where a Dalit woman died allegedly after being raped. They were accused of trying to instigate violence over the death of the Hathras woman.

Police alleged that Kappan had links with the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI), and charged him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code.

In September last year, the Supreme Court granted him bail in connection with that case. A bench headed by then Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit directed Kappan to remain in Delhi for six weeks after his release from an Uttar Pradesh prison.

However, he continued to be in jail because of a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

Indian-American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal has been named Ranking Member of the powerful House Judiciary Committee's panel on Immigration, making her the first immigrant to serve in a leadership role for the subcommittee.
