Hindalco Industries, a metal company, is set to establish a Rs 800 crore battery foil manufacturing facility in Odisha. The facility, scheduled to be commissioned by July 2025, will have the capacity to produce 25,000 tonnes of high-quality aluminium foil. The company, in a press note said this move is part of the company’s ambitious plan to meet the rising demand for fine-quality aluminium foil used in rechargeable batteries.

Padget Electronics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of contract manufacturer company Dixon Technologies, will manufacture laptops and notebooks of Lenovo in the country. The company, in an exchange filing, said it will manufacture the products of Chinese tech-giant under Production Linked Incentive 2.0 Scheme. 

The government launched the PLI 2.0 scheme in June 2023 to boost domestic production and incentivise manufacturers to scale up their capabilities. The scheme received an overwhelming response, with 44 companies, including HP, Dell, Lenovo, Thompson, Acer, and Asus applied for it.

South Africa shredded a pedestrian-looking Indian bowling attack to pieces to script a five-wicket win in the second T20 of the three-match series  in Gqeberha (South  Africa ) on Dec 12 .

Ravi Uppal, one of the two main owners of the Mahadev online betting app, has been detained in Dubai by the local police based on a red notice issued by the Interpol at the behest of the ED.

Uppal is being probed by the ED in a money laundering case linked to alleged illegal betting apart from the Chhattisgarh Police and Mumbai Police.

A local court  has convicted BJP MLA Ramdular Gond for raping a minor girl nine years ago and fixed December 15 for pronouncing the punishment.

Additional District Judge (First), MP/MLA Court, Ehsan Ullah Khan, found the MLA guilty in the 2014 rape case, said Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) Satyaprakash Tripathi.

He added that the court has sent the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA to judicial custody while fixing December 15 for pronouncing the punishment.

Gond is the MLA from Duddhi assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district.
