The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on  july 21 urged consumers to buy toys bearing the 'ISI mark' from the market as such products have a mandatory quality certification.

Also, consumers must complain if they see any toy being sold without the 'ISI Mark'. Complaints can be filed through the BIS Care app or write to complaints@bis.gov.in, it said in a statement.

ISI mark on a product certifies that the product has been manufactured as per standards set by the BIS, which is a national standard-setting body that functions under the Consumer Affairs Ministry.

Since January 2021, toys are required to mandatorily have a quality certification.

As a result, no person is permitted to manufacture, import sell or distribute, store, hire, lease or exhibit for sale toys which do not conform to the Indian standard and do not bear BIS Standard Mark i.e.'ISI mark' under a licence from BIS.

Paralympic medallist Singhraj Adhana won two golds on the final day as India produced their best-ever performance at the Para Shooting World Cup, finishing with 10 medals  in Munich .

Singhraj's twin medals propelled India to the top of the medal table, their best performance since taking part in the competition for the first time in 2017.

In total, India won six golds, three silvers and one bronze.

France (11) and Ukraine (15), took the second and third place, having won 4 and 3 gold respectively.

On the final day of the event, Tokyo Paralympic silver medallist Singhraj, who initially qualified in the fourth place, rode on his steady rounds of shooting to score 224.1 points and eventually clinched the gold.

Before the individual event, Singhraj teamed up with compatriots Deepender Singh and Manish Narwal to take the team gold.

The individual gold was also Singhraj's first ever in the P4 event after several silver and bronze medals.

Earlier, India started off its Para Shooting World Cup campaign on a brilliant note with Rahul Jakhar clinching gold in P3-Mixed 25m Pistol SH1 event.

Jakhar also combined with Singhraj and Nihal to take the team gold with a total of 1695-36x ahead of Korea and the Czech Republic.

Shooters Manish Narwal and Rubina Francis followed it up with another gold in P6 - Mixed Team 10m Air SH1 Pistol event.

The Indian Para Shooting team will next be in action at the World Championships in November slated to be held in Al Ain, UAE.

Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair was released from Tihar on  july 20 night, hours after being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in all FIRs lodged in Uttar Pradesh against him for alleged hate speech.

Zubair was arrested by the Delhi Police on June 27 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through his tweets.

Multiple FIRs were lodged against him in UP - two in Hathras and one each in Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, and at Chandauli police station - on similar charges.

The Supreme Court, earlier in the day, ordered the release of Zubair on interim bail, saying "exercise of the power of arrest must be pursued sparingly" and transferred all the cases in UP to Delhi.

The court said "it finds no reason or justification for the deprivation of his liberty to persist any further" and ordered disbanding of the SIT, constituted by the UP police.

In a first, the Railways will now use Google Maps to link the location of candidates appearing for its exams to test centres within a 300-km radius in order to cut their travel time.

For decades, candidates appearing for the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exams have complained about test centres being far away from their domicile, resulting in not only long-distance travel but also expenses on account of lodging and food which they have to be bear.

The process will be rolled out in the Level 6 and Level 4 computer-based tests to be held on July 30.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh has said that  the government has not found it feasible to change the existing provisions regarding the number of attempts and age-limit in respect of the civil services examination.

The issue of granting age relaxation and an extra attempt to candidates for the civil services examination (CSE) due to COVID-19 was brought before the Supreme Court of India vide writ petitions by the aspirants.

However, the recruitment cycle of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was delayed due to COVID-19.

Therefore, for the examinations being advertised in 2022, the SSC has decided to fix the crucial date for determining age as on January 1, 2022.

There were around 9.79 lakh vacant posts in central government departments against the sanctioned strength of 40.35 lakh, as on March 1, 2021, the Lok Sabha was informed on july 20.

According to the annual report of pay research unit of the department of expenditure, there were 40,35,203 sanctioned posts under various ministries/departments of the central government, as on March 1, last year, according to a written reply by Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh.

As many as 30,55,876 central government civilian employees were in position on the date against the sanctioned strength, it said.

Vacancies in various ministries/departments of the central government, and their attached or subordinate offices arise due to retirement, promotion, resignation, death, among others, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had last month asked various government departments and ministries to undertake the recruitment of 10 lakh people on a “mission mode” in the next year-and-a-half.
