Bahrain's lower house of parliament announced  the halting of economic ties with Israel and the return of ambassadors on both sides over the Israel-Hamas war, although there was no government confirmation.

Israel's foreign ministry said it had not been notified of any decision by Bahrain. If confirmed, it would be the first such move by one of Israel's Gulf Arab allies.

Bahrain and Israel established diplomatic relations in 2020 as part of the US-brokered Abraham Accords. Under the accords, Israel also established ties with the United Arab Emirates and Morocco.

Myanmar's military has lost control of a strategic town on the Chinese border following days of clashes with ethnic armed groups, in what analysts say is the biggest military challenge it has faced since seizing power.

Fighting has raged  across northern Shan state, with an alliance of ethnic groups claiming to have seized four towns, blocked trade routes to China and captured dozens of military outposts.

     The remoteness of the rugged, jungle-clad region -- home to pipelines that supply oil and gas to China -- and patchy communications make it difficult to verify casualty numbers        in the fighting, which the United Nations fears have displaced thousands.

Government, administrative organisations and security forces were "no longer present" in the trade hub of Chinshwehaw, which borders China's Yunnan province, junta spokesman Zaw Min Tun said in a statement

More than a quarter of Myanmar's $1.8 billion border trade with China passed through Chinshwehaw between April and September, junta-controlled media reported in September, citing the commerce ministry.

The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Arakan Army (AA) said  that  they also had control over the towns of Hpaung Seng, Hsenwi, and Kyukok.

Mahsa Yazdani, a mother who demanded justice for her slain son was sentenced to 13 years in prison by an Iranian court for blasphemy, incitement, insulting the supreme leader and spreading anti-regime propaganda, The Guardian reported.

After Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) made it mandatory for its employees to work from office for all five days a week, the country’s second largest IT services company Infosys has asked its employees in entry to mid-level roles to work from the office thrice a week from November 20.

Infosys in its recent earnings conference said they want to remain flexible with its employees.

The announcement comes at a time when its founder Narayana Murthy urged the youth to work 12 hours a day.  

The goods and services tax (GST) revenue registered a massive resurgence in October, with tax collections reaching the second-highest monthly tally of Rs 1.72 lakh crore since the GST implementation.

This represents a robust growth of 13.4% compared to the GST collection in the same month the previous year.  In September, growth in indirect tax collections had slowed to a 27-month low of 10.2%.

The finance ministry revealed that domestic transactions and services imports played a significant role in driving the uptick, contributing to a 13% increase in October’s GST revenue.

GST compensation cess collections reached a record high of Rs 12,456 crore in October, surpassing the previous peak of Rs 12,025 crore in April. Preliminary calculations suggest GST levies on imported goods experienced a faster growth of 13.9% in October, outpacing the growth from domestic transactions.

April 2023 recorded the highest-ever GST revenue of Rs 1.87 lakh crore. Currently, the average gross monthly GST collection in the fiscal year 2023-24 stands at Rs 1.66 lakh crore, marking an 11% increase compared to the same period last year.  

An emotional Ons Jabeur said she would donate part of her WTA Finals prize money to Palestinians after avenging her Wimbledon final defeat to Marketa Vondrousova .

China's Tian Jiaming took the silver with a score of 462.7. Another Chinese, Du Linshu picked up the bronze with 450.3.

Tomar had finished fifth in the qualification round with 591.

The Indian trio of Tomar, Swapnil Kusale and Akhil Sheoran won the team silver with a total score of 1764, behind China (1777).

India has already got a maximum of two possible Olympic quota places in this event through Kusale and Sheoran.

Kusale had won the Paris Games quota during the World Championships in Cairo last year.

Sheoran did the same in this year's World Championships in Baku.
