• Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) Kerala state president Hyderali Shihab Thangal has died. He was aged 74.
• Hyderali was the senior-most member of the Malappuram-based Panakkad family, which traditionally has the final say in IUML politics.
• Hyderali Shihab Thangal is also the incumbent president of the Darul Huda Islamic Academy. He had been also working as the vice-president of the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulema, an influential body of Muslim scholars in Kerala.
• Hyderali Shihab Thangal became the state president of IUML in 2009 after the death of his brother Sayed Mohhammedali Shihab Thangal.

• Rafiq Tarar, a veteran Pakistani politician and former Supreme Court judge who served as the country's President from 1997 to 2001, passed away  due to prolonged illness, He was 92.
• Tarar had served as Pakistan President between 1997 and 2001 after being nominated by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
• Prior to his foray into politics with the PML-N, Tarar had served as a Supreme Court judge from 1991 to 1994. He also served as the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court from March 6, 1989 to October 31, 1991.

• Russia said  on Mar 7  that  it will open humanitarian corridors to allow the evacuation of civilians from several Ukrainian cities experiencing heavy fighting, including the capital Kyiv and the besieged port city of Mariupol.
• It listed evacuation routes from the capital Kyiv as well as Mariupol, Kharkiv and Sumy -- all of which have been under heavy Russian attacks in recent days.
• Moscow said the decision was taken after a "personal request" by French President Emmanuel Macron to Russia's Vladimir Putin.
• The pair spoke in their fourth conversation since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24th.
• Moscow said it had informed the UN, the OSCE and other international organisations of the corridors and called on Ukraine to "strictly fulfill all the conditions" of the evacuations.
• The Russian army pummelled Ukrainian cities from the air, land and sea on March 7 , with warnings they were preparing for an assault on the capital Kyiv.
• The relentless fire has pushed more than 1.5 million people across Ukraine's borders as refugees, though many others are displaced internally or trapped in cities being reduced to rubble by Russian bombardment.

• IT company Microsoft has said that it will set up its fourth data centre in India at Hyderabad and expects to make it operational by 2025.
• The company will set-up the data centre at Hyderabad, which comes in addition to the existing three facilities located in Pune, Mumbai, and. Chennai
• Microsoft India president Anant Maheshwari has  said that the  Microsoft has doubled data centre capacity in India.
• Citing data from research firm IDC, he said Microsoft datacenters in India contributed USD 9.5 billion revenue to the economy between 2016 and 2020.
• Besides GDP impact, the IDC report estimated 1.5 million jobs were added to the economy, including 169,000 new skilled IT jobs.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk for giving Ukraine access to his company's satellite-internet system, called Starlink.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Mar 6  showed off a shipment of the Starlink systems that had arrived in the capital city.

He said Starlink would help secure the work of critical infrastructure and the defense of the city.

Two of the so-called Big Four accounting firms are pulling out of Russia over its war in Ukraine.

KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers both said that  they would end their relationships with their Russia-based member firms. KPMG said it was also pulling out of Belarus.

KPMG International said in a statement it would be “incredibly difficult” to have its Russia and Belarus firms leave the network. KPMG has more than 4,500 employees in the two countries.

PricewaterhouseCoopers said it has 3,700 employees at its PwC Russia firm and is working on an “orderly transition” for the business.

• Tokyo Paralympics champion Pramod Bhagat struck gold in all the three categories that he participated in at the Spanish Para badminton International II tournament in Vitoria, Spain.
• Sukant Kadam, who is World No 4, also continued his good run and ended his campaign with a gold and a silver in the tournament that ended on Mar 7 .
• In the singles, World No 1 Bhagat defeated Kumar Nitesh 17-21 21-17 21-17 in a hard-fought final which lasted for 1 hour and 1 minute to claim the yellow metal.
• In the mixed doubles, World No 1 pair of Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar outwitted fellow Indians Kadam and Nitesh 21-19 11-21 21-11 in the summit clash for another gold.
• Bhagat then paired up with his mixed doubles partner Palak Kohli and secured a thrilling come-from-behind 14-21 21-11 21-14 win against the Indian pair of Ruthick Ragupathi and Manasi Girishchandra Joshi for his third gold medal of the tournament.
• In SL3 classification, athletes with lower limb impairment are allowed to compete.
• On the other hand, World no 4 Kadam had a relatively easy outing against Marcel Adam, beating the German 21-13 21-18. This victory is Kadam's third gold medal in as many tournaments.
• In the men's doubles, Kadam had to settle for silver after being defeated by World No 1 pair Pramod Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar.

• In the women's 25m pistol team event final, India defeated Singapore 17-13 to clinch their third gold of the ISSF World Cup 2022 .
• Rahi Sarnobat, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan defeated the Singaporean trio of Xiu Hong, Shun Xie and Ling Chiao Nicole Tan in the gold medal match-up.
• This was Esha Singh's second gold and third medal of the ongoing World Cup as she had won the women's 10m air pistol team event to add to the silver she won in the women's 10m air pistol individual event.
• India further added to their medal count on the day, after Shriyanka Sadangi and Akhil Sheoran beat Austria's Rebecca Koeck and Gernot Rumpler 16-10 in the bronze medal match of the 50m rifle 3 positions mixed team competition.
• Saurabh Chaudhary clinched India's first gold medal in Cairo. The 19-year-old Indian defeated Michael Schwald of Germany 16-6 in the gold medal match of the Men's 10m Air Pistol event.
