• Indian Army has constructed a War Memorial in Chushul, which will be inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on November 18, on the 59th anniversary of the famous battle of Rezangla.

• In addition to the names of 114 of the 120 soldiers of the 13th Kumaon Battalion who lost their lives fighting but defeated many waves of the Chinese army in 1962, this War Memorial will also have the names of the 20 soldiers who died in Galwan last year in a clash with the Chinese soldiers.

• This will be the second Memorial after the Galwan War Memorial in Chushul of Eastern Ladakh.

• The Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh has been a site of tense stand-offs with the PLA since May 2020. Although there have been disengagement of troops from Galwan, Gogra and North and South Banks of the Pangong Lake, confrontations continue in Hotspring , Depsang and Demchok.

• There are close to 60,000 soldiers of each side of the LAC.

• The former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has said that Salman Khurshid should take his words back regarding the comparison of Hindutva with terrorist organisations ISIS and Boko Haram in his book.

• Notably, other senior Congress leaders like former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad have also disapproved of the comparison.

• Rawat, a former Union minister, also criticised Kangana Ranaut’s statement that India attained freedom after BJP came to power in 2014 and that the Independence of 1947 was actually a bheekh (alms) from the British.

• The 354-page book, which claims to analyse the juridical history and consequences of the long-standing Ayodhya dispute, was released recently.

• The railway station renaming spree of Uttar Pradesh has now reached another BJP ruled state, the neighbouring Madhya Pradesh.

• The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has written to the union home secretary, recommending to rename MP capital's Habibganj railway station after Rani Kamlapati -- the last Gond (Hindu) queen of Bhopal.

• Importantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on November 15, unveil the totally revamped world class Habibganj railway station (first railway station to have been modernised on PPP model at Rs 100 crore cost).

• The Habibganj railway station is presently named after former Nawab of Bhopal, Habib Miyan, who had reportedly donated a vast tract of land for the station's expansion in late 1970s. The station was originally developed by the Britishers as Shahpur, but renamed as Habibganj in independent India.

• Top CPI(Maoist) leader Prashant Bose alias Kishan Da, who was carrying a bounty of   Rs 1 crore on his head, has been arrested in Jharkhand along with wife Sheela Marandi, also a dreaded extremist.

• Bose, who also went by names Manish and Budha, was the mastermind behind more than 100 incidents of attack and arson in Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

• The Pakistan High Commission has said it has issued around 3,000 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims on the eve of the 552nd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikh religion.

• The visas were issued to facilitate the visit of the pilgrims to Pakistan to offer prayers at various gurdwaras from Nov 17-26.

• The visas have been issued under the provision of the 1974 bilateral protocol between India and Pakistan on visits to religious shrines.

• The Indian pilgrims will be able to visit different gurdwaras including Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed several restrictions on Laxmi Cooperative Bank Ltd, Solapur, including Rs 1,000 cap on withdrawals for customers, due to deterioration in its financial position.

• The restrictions imposed under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, shall remain in force for six months from the close of business on Nov 12, 2021, and are subject to review.

• As per the directions, the bank shall not, without the prior approval of the RBI, grant or renew any loans and advances, make any investment, incur any liability, and disburse or agree to disburse any payment.

• It further said the issue of the directions by the RBI should not per se be construed as cancellation of the banking licence.

• On Nov 7 also, the RBI had imposed similar restrictions on Babaji Date Mahila Sahakari Bank, Yavatmal, Maharashtra.

• The Special MP/ MLA Court of Lucknow has  awarded a life sentence to former UP minister Gayatri Prajapati and his two accomplices in a gang rape case and also POCSO Act.

• Judge Pawan Kumar Rai of special MP/ MLA court also slapped a penalty of Rs 2 lakh each on three convicts -- Gayatri, Ashok Tiwari and Ashish Shukla. The sentence was delivered against the three under sections 376 D and 5G/6 of the POCSO Act.

• The hills surrounding Kolwade village in central Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district have been named after late Jesuit priest Hermann Bacher who dedicated his life to water conservation and the welfare of underprivileged communities in the state.

• Bacher, known as the father of community-led watershed development in India, died on September 14, 2021 in his native country, Switzerland..
