Actor, model and casting director Aditya Singh Rajput was found dead in the bathroom of his apartment in suburban Andheri.

Rajput (33) was allegedly not keeping well since the last couple of days and he collapsed in the bathroom of his apartment in Oshiwara area.

Rajput has participated in reality shows such as "Splitsvilla" and also acted in films such as "Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara".

Veteran actor Sarath Babu passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 71.

Sarath Babu, who made his debut in a Telugu film, Rama Rajyam, in 1973, became famous for his work in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films.

Some of his well-known films include K Viswanath's Sagara Sangamam, Apathbandhavudu and Nagarjuna-starrer Criminal.

He has also starred in a number of Tamil movies alongside superstar Rajinikanth in films including Mullum Malarum, Velaikkaran, Annamalai and Muthu.

The actor with a soft voice was known for his memorable roles including those in Mullum Malarum and Nenjathai Killathey.

He bagged Nandi awards nine times for best acting in supporting roles.

He was last seen in Vasantha Mullai (2023).

 Pasang Dawa Sherpa on May 22 scaled Mt. Everest for the 27th time, equalising a world record for the highest number of ascents set earlier by Kami Rita Sherpa.

Pasang has become the second person in the world to climb the 8,848.86 metres-high peak 27 times.

The mountaineer, born in Pangboche near the Everest region, first summited Everest in 1998. Pasang Dawa has made it to the top of the world's highest summit twice this spring. Earlier, he summited Everest for the 26th time on May 14.

Prominent Australian Indigenous journalist Stan Grant announced that, after May 22 , he will step away from television hosting duties after viewers responded with racist abuse to his comments during King Charles III's coronation about historic Aboriginal dispossession.

Grant, a member of the Wiradjuri tribe of Indigenous Australians and former international correspondent for U.S.-based CNN, has been under fire since taking part in a panel discussion on the Australian Broadcasting Corp. ahead of the May 6 coronation ceremony in London. Topics included a push to have a president replace the British monarch as Australia’s head of state and Indigenous suffering from colonization.

Critics complained that the ABC had soured the celebratory mood of the coronation.

A top court in Pakistan on May 22  ordered the release from jail of Shireen Mazari, a close aide of former prime minister Imran Khan even as several other senior party leaders and thousands of workers remain in detention following the May 9 protests.

Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz of the Rawalpindi Bench of the court issued an order to release Mazari, who served as the minister for human rights from 2018 to 2022 and was arrested on May 12 from his house in Islamabad after a crackdown was launched on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party following the violence.

Her daughter Imaan Mazari-Hazir had challenged the arrest in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Papua New Guinea has  signed  a defence pact with the United States, giving US forces access to its airfields and ports as Washington vies with China's growing footprint in the Pacific region.

In a sign of the intensifying rivalry over the South Pacific, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was not alone in representing major powers in Port Moresby, where the deal  was  signed.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew into town just hours before him on the eve of a summit  on May 22 with 14 South Pacific island states, asserting his nation's role as a regional power in the face of China's rise.

Fintech platform PhonePe has secured an additional USD100 million investment from private equity firm General Atlantic, as part of its ongoing fundraise.

The latest tranche brings the total investment from General Atlantic and its co-investors to USD 550 million. Last month, the company had raised USD 100 million from General Atlantic. The company had raised USD 100 million from TVS Capital, Ribbit Capital and Tiger Global Management and USD 200 million from Walmart. With this latest primary infusion from General Atlantic, PhonePe has now raised a total of USD 850 million of primary capital in the current round.

PhonePe started its fundraising with a target of raising up to USD 1 billion in capital, post its domicile shift to India. Founded in December 2015, it has over 45 crore registered users. 

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said most of the withdrawn Rs 2,000 rupee notes are expected to be returned by the deadline of September 30.

Speaking to reporters for the first time since the surprise decision to withdraw the highest denomination currency note was announced, Das said the decision was part of currency management.

Rs 2,000 currency notes continue to be legal tender, Das added.

Indian currency management system is very robust, the exchange rate has remained stable despite the crisis in financial markets due to war in Ukraine and failure of certain banks in the West, he said.

The impact of the withdrawal on the economy will be "very very marginal", he said, adding Rs 2,000 currency notes made up for just 10.8 per cent of the total currency in circulation.

He said Rs 2,000 rupee notes were introduced primarily to replenish the currency that was withdrawn following the 2016 demonetisation.

While the withdrawn 2,000 rupee notes can either be deposited in bank accounts or exchanged for other currency, banks have been advised to make necessary arrangements for exchange, he said.
