The wrestlers who have been protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at Jantar Mantar on May 3  informed the Supreme Court that the Delhi Police is "doing absolutely nothing" in investigating the charges of sexual harassment against Singh.

The counsel for the wrestlers, senior Advocate Narendra Hooda submitted before the bench of CJI DY Chandrachud that the Delhi Police so far had not recorded any statement of the complainants u/s 161 of CrPC, 1973. 

Botswana's Nijel Amos, an Olympic 800m silver medallist in 2012, has been banned for three years after testing positive for metabolites, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced.

The 29-year-old tested positive for metabolites during an out-of-competition urine test in June 2022 and was provisionally suspended a month later, meaning he missed out on the world championships in Eugene.

The three-year ban rules Amos out of competition until July 2025, meaning the Botswanan will miss the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Amos is the third fastest runner over 800m of all time, having run 1min 41.73sec when winning silver behind David Rudisha at the London Olympics, when the Kenyan set the world record of 1:40.91.

New Zealand boxer David Light suffered a mild stroke and underwent surgery for a blood clot following his world title defeat to Lawrence Okolie.

The 31-year-old Light lost on a unanimous decision to Britain's Okolie for the World Boxing Organization cruiserweight belt in Manchester in late March.

Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar on  May 2 said he has decided to step down as the party chief.

Speaking at a book launch of his autobiography at the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratisthan , Pawar announced his decision which was met with protests by NCP workers and leaders.

Pawar also announced a panel of senior party leaders to draw a future course of action.

Party workers and leaders, however, demanded that Pawar withdraw his decision.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has demanded to conduct all central government examinations in regional languages and said that students from all states of the country should get equal opportunities.

The Chief Minister also welcomed the Centre's decision taken in April this year to conduct the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) exams in 13 regional languages besides Hindi and English.

The Chief Minister said that their demand bore a positive result when the Centre decided to conduct the CAPF exams in 13 regional languages and said that there is a need to conduct all central exams in the respective languages of the aspirants.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that about 90 per cent of the crimes in the coastal state are committed by migrant labourers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and other areas, urging contractors to obtain "labour cards" before employing them.

Sawant made the claim at a Labour Day function on May 1 in Panaji.

The chief minister said that every migrant labourer working in the state should have a labour card given by the state government.

The Goa government issues labour cards to those working in the private, unorganised and industrial sectors to keep a record of employment as well as extend welfare measures to this category.

Sawant said that it is necessary to track the details of labourers as "after committing a crime in Goa, migrant labourers often return to their state and it becomes difficult to locate them."

Sawant said that the state government has roped in two NGOs to ensure that all labourers are issued the cards.

The chief minister announced that the facility to enrol the labourers for the card would be made online soon.

He said that once the cards are issued to all the labourers, it would be easier to access the database.

In order to provide holistic, skill-based, employment-oriented education to the children, Jharkhand is all set to get 80 model schools, affiliated to CBSE where children will be taught in English medium. Students will also be provided vocational training for 11 different courses.

To add more teeth to their skills, Azim Premji Foundation has provided training to the headmasters and teachers of these model schools. The foundation will also help in building the capacity of the principals and teachers to secure better and quality education for the children.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren will inaugurate these schools from Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo High School located at Dhurwa in Ranchi, one of those 80 Schools of Excellence.
