The Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended the FCRA licence of prominent public think-tank Centre for Policy Research (CPR) over violation of laws.

CPR was under scrutiny after Income Tax surveys on it and Oxfam India in September last year.

The FCRA licence of CPR has been suspended over violation of laws.

Oxfam's FCRA licence was suspended in January last year, after which the NGO had filed a revision petition with the home ministry.

With the suspension of its licence, given under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), CPR will not be able to receive any funds from abroad.

Next time you have a problem with a social media platform that has not been satisfactorily resolved, you can approach the government’s Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC) that has just been launched.

The GAC will have to address your appeal within 30 days. The GAC was one of the provisions in the recently amended Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The framework, which proposes three GACs, was notified on January 28 last. The purpose is to ensure that your Constitutional rights are not contravened by any big-tech platform.

IT Rules 2021 mandates a grievance officer for social media intermediaries like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp so that you can report rule violations. The GAC is a virtual digital platform wherein the entire appeal process, from filing to decision making will be done online. Each of the GACs has a chairperson, two whole-time members from different government entities, and retired senior executives from the industry, for a term of three years.

There’s hope for children whose mother dies during childbirth: the Uttarakhand health department plans to set up a ‘mother milk bank,’ the first such facility in the state.

Under this scheme, lactating women will be able to donate milk to the bank.

According to the National Health Mission’s Sample Registration System (SRS) report in 2021, Uttarakhand had the third-highest infant mortality rate of 27 deaths per 1,000 live births among 10 Himalayan states of the country after Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.

The government has made arrangements to take pregnant women to a hospital free of cost. Under a scheme, pregnant women are given Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500 for the mother’s food and Rs 500 for the child’s naming ceremony.

Hours after the Supreme Court refused to entertain Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s petition challenging his arrest by the CBI in the liquor policy scam, he and other incarcerated colleague Satyendar Jain resigned as ministers in the AAP government.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accepted the resignations. In a late-night announcement, Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot was given additional charge of finance, PWD, power and home held by Sisodia. The outgoing deputy CM’s other portfolios like education, health and services were allotted to Social Welfare Minister Raaj Kumar Anand as additional charge.

Sisodia’s resignation came a couple of days after his arrest while Jain put in his papers almost eight months after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a case related to money laundering.

Sisodia was handling 18 of the total 33 departments of the Delhi government. He was directly monitoring several critical government projects, including streetscaping and traffic decongestion plans, ahead of the G20 summit. He was also the administrative face of the government.

Newly appointed chairman of Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal (RLJD) and former union minister Upendra Kushwaha will launch 'Birasat Bachao Naman Yatra' from Bhitiharwa Ashram in Bihar's West Champaran district on Feb 28.

The yatra will cover 28 districts out of 38 and culminate into a public meeting at Jagdeo Prasad memorial in Kurth in Jehanabad on March 20.

It is his first yatra ever since Kushwaha snapped ties with JD(U) and decided to form a new party—RLJD earlier this month.

The flight acceptance hot test of the CE-20 cryogenic engine that will power the cryogenic upper stage of the launch vehicle for the Chandrayaan-3 mission was successfully conducted, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation.

The hot test was carried out for 25 seconds at the High Altitude Test Facility of the ISRO Propulsion Complex at Mahendragiri in Tamil Nadu on February 24, the Bengaluru-headquartered national space agency said.

The cryogenic engine will be further integrated with the propellant tanks, stage structures and associated fluid lines to realise the fully-integrated flight cryogenic stage, ISRO said.

EMI-EMC (Electro - Magnetic Interference/ Electro - Magnetic Compatibility) test is conducted for satellite missions to ensure the functionality of the satellite subsystems in the space environment and their compatibility with the expected electromagnetic levels.

Chandrayaan-3 interplanetary mission has three major modules: the propulsion module, the lander module, and the rover.

Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface.

ISRO plans to launch the mission in June. It will be launched by Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh).

A special CBI court on Feb 27 sent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to five-day CBI custody till March 4, in the multi-crore excise policy scam case.

The CBI had arrested Sisodia on  Feb 26 after eight hours of questioning in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, which was allegedly tweaked to benefit certain liquor traders linked to the AAP.
