Fiscal deficit widens 27 per cent in April-January on high capex, fall in non-tax revenues

 The Centre’s fiscal deficit in the first 10 months of the current financial year has widened by 27% to Rs 11.90 lakh crore compared to Rs 9.4 lakh crore in the same period last year. The fiscal deficit in the April-January period has reached 68% of the revised full year target of Rs 17.55 lakh crore, data from the Comptroller General of Accounts (CGA) showed. On a month-on-month basis the fiscal deficit increased 20% to over Rs 9.93 lakh crore in December. Read More..
