The seer of Kanchugal Bande Math here was suspected to have been honey trapped and blackmailed, which allegedly forced him to end his life.

Sri Basavalingeshwara Swami, the head of the Math in Kempupura of Magadi taluk , which has a history of more than 400 years, was found hanging from a window grill of the puja house at the math's premises on Oct 23 .  A couple of pages of purported death note were found in which he has accused some people of harassing and blackmailing him by assassinating his character and has even named them.

The 45-year-old Lingayat seer was honey-trapped and often blackmailed after the Murugha Math Chief Pontiff Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru was arrested in a sexual harassment case.

Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru is facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the IPC.

Sharanaru is an accused in the case where two minor girls were allegedly sexually abused.

They were students in the school run by Murugha Math and stayed in the math's hostel.

Indian Railways working on a 'well-thought-out plan' to generate additional revenue from non-operating sources and additional resources is promoting a 'unique concept' of setting up the Rail Coach Restaurants (RCR) across outer circulating areas of its almost all-important stations in the country.

So far, the railway has allowed private players to set up the Rail Coach Restaurants at nearly 9 places in several states with the recent one at New Jalpaiguri railway station.

An old train coach after giving it proper refurbishments and interior decoration have been aesthetically converted into a rail coach restaurant at New Jalpaiguri railway station.

The railway has provided space and other support on a contract of five years to the party for setting up this restaurant, which instantly started attracting passengers and other customers.

The North East Frontier Railway is also planning to set up such restaurants in Sukna, Tindhara, Kurseong and Darjeeling stations.

Assam’S Goalpara administration  has sealed a private museum that was inaugurated two days ago for showcasing culture of migrant Muslims in the state. Sources said Miya Museum was set up at a Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) house in Lakhipur and was sealed as per the directions of the district authorities. The term ‘Miya’ refers to a descendent of migrant Bengali Muslims who make up around one-third of the population in Assam.

An organisation called Miya Parishad had inaugurated the museum to showcase and preserve the culture of the migrant Muslims. However, it wasn’t received well as some viewed it as a threat to the indigenous culture. 

New Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on  Oct 25 told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky he had Britain's "steadfast support", Downing Street said, in his first call with a foreign leader since taking power hours earlier.

The Ukrainian leader also invited the British premier to visit Ukraine.

In its own statement, Downing Street said Sunak assured Zelensky of the UK's "steadfast support".

The Chinese city of Shanghai started administering an inhalable COVID-19 vaccine on  Oct 26 in what appears to be a world first.

The vaccine, a mist that is sucked in through the mouth, is being offered for free as a booster dose for previously vaccinated individuals.

Needle-free vaccines may persuade people who don't like getting a shot to get vaccinated, as well as help expand vaccination in poor countries because they are easier to administer.

China doesn't have vaccine mandates but wants more people to get booster shots before it relaxes strict pandemic restrictions that are holding back the economy and increasingly out of synch with the rest of the world.

Adidas has ended its partnership with the rapper formerly known as Kanye West over his offensive and antisemitic remarks, the latest company to cut ties with Ye and a decision that the German sportswear company said would hit its bottom line.

The company faced pressure to cut ties with Ye, with celebrities and others on social media urging Adidas to act. It said at the beginning of the month that it was placing its lucrative sneaker deal with the rapper under review.

The sportswear company said it was expected to take a hit of up to 250 million euros ($246 million) to its net income this year from the move.
