·       If thing go per plan, Indian Railways will introduce the country’s third indigenously manufactured high speed Vande Bharat Express by March 31 next year. Manufacturing of rakes is near completion at Integral Coach Factory in Chennai and would soon be handed over to the Railways.

·       Just months ahead of Assembly elections in Manipur, the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) lost its presence in the state Assembly  as the party’s lone MLA, Karam Shyam, defected to the ruling BJP.

·       The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has  arrested former Punjab MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in connection with a money laundering case being probed against him and others .

·       They said Khaira, 56, was taken into custody by the central probe agency in Punjab under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

·       Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has urged the Centre to appoint someone with working knowledge in Mizo as the chief secretary since the Mizos at large and his Cabinet Ministers do not know Hindi.

·       Senior bureaucrat Renu Sharma, who succeeded Lalnunmawia Chuaungo as the chief secretary, had assumed charge on November 1.

·       Chuaungo, however, had succeeded Arvind Ray, a non-Mizo IAS officer of the 1984 batch. It could not be ascertained if Ray has any flair in Mizo.

·       Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla has talked to Zoramthanga on the issue over the phone from Delhi.

·       In an October 29 letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Zoramthanga said even as he was seeking additional chief secretary JC Ramthanga to be the next chief secretary, the MHA went ahead with Sharma.

·       Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre Renu Sharma was asked by the Centre to take charge from November 1.

·       On the same day, the Mizoram government appointed Manipur cadre IAS officer JC Ramthanga, who is currently posted as additional chief secretary to the CM, as the chief secretary. However, Sharma assumed office on November 2 .

·       Pakistan batter Asif Ali and Ireland all-rounder Laura Delany were  named the ICC male and female players of the month for October.

·       Ali beat Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan and Namibia's David Wiese to the men's award, and Delany prevailed over teammate Gaby Lewis and Zimbabwe's Mary-Anne Musonda for the women's prize.

·       Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat claimed the silver medal after enduring a weapon malfunction in the women's 25m pistol event of the President's Cup .

·       Young Manu Bhaker, after finishing sixth in the 25m individual event, came back to win the gold medal with Turkey's Ozgur Varlik in the 25m rapid fire pistol mixed team contest by a margin of 9-7 over the Chinese/Estonian pair of Xiao and Peeter Olesk.

·       Before that, seasoned Indian markswoman Sarnobat fired 31 in the final, missing few crucial shots in the last two series after suffering a pistol malfunction.

·       Germany's Vennekamp won the gold medal with a score of 33, while Mathilde Lamolle settled for the bronze medal with 27.

·       It was a strong field featuring Rio Olympic champion Anna Korakaki of Greece and Tokyo bronze medallist Xiao Jiaruixuan of China among others.

·       Later in the day, the Indo-Turkish pair of Bhaker and Varlik opened up a healthy lead of 6-2 in the early stages but Xiao and Peeter fought back to level the match at 6-6.

·       Bhaker and Varlik then went ahead 8-6 before tying the final series at 5-5 to earn the crucial ninth point and seal the deal.

·       In all, India won five medals in the season-ending tournament which was earlier called the ISSF World Cup Finals.

·       Besides Bhaker's gold medal and Sarnobat's silver on the final day, Saurabh Chaudhary also won an individual silver and Abhishek Verma a bronze in the men's 10m air pistol competition earlier in the tournament.

·       Bhaker also teamed up with Iran's Olympic champion Javad Foroughi to win 10m air pistol mixed team title.

·       Ninety-six countries have agreed to mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccination certificates with India, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said

·       The government continues to be in communication with the rest of the world so that beneficiaries of the world's largest COVID-19 vaccination programme are accepted and recognised, thereby easing travel for education, business and tourism purposes, Mandaviya said in a statement.

·       Among the 96 countries are Canada, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Bangladesh, Mali, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Angola, Nigeria, Benin, Chad, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Finland, Estonia, Romania, Moldova, Albania, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Sweden, Austria, Montenegro, and Iceland.

·       Eswatini, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, Kyrgyz Republic, Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, Andorra, Kuwait, Oman, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Maldives, Comoros, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Peru, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and Brazil have also agreed to mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccination certificates with India.

·       Guyana, Antigua & Barbuda, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Columbia, Trinidad & Tobago, Commonwealth of Dominica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Nepal, Iran, Lebanon, State of Palestine, Syria, South Sudan, Tunisia, Sudan, Egypt, Australia, Mongolia, and Philippines are the other countries.

·       The cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 109.08 crore.

·       India on   Nov 9  dismissed reports that it had signed up to the Action Agenda on Sustainable Agriculture at the ongoing COP26 climate summit in Glasgow as "baseless" and "factually incorrect".

·       The "Sustainable Agriculture Policy Action Agenda for the Transition to Sustainable Agriculture and Global Action Agenda for Innovation in Agriculture' was pegged as a highlight over the weekend at the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
