The Delhi Police has recorded the statement of Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in connection with the allegations of sexual harassment levelled by the female wrestlers against him.

Police have also recorded the statement of the WFI's assistant secretary Vinod Tomar.

Last month, the Delhi Police registered two FIRs against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh following the notice by the Supreme Court.

The first FIR pertains to allegations levelled by a minor which has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code concerning outraging modesty. The second one has been registered over complaints by adults pertaining to outraging of modesty.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has booked former Narcotics Control Bureau officer Sameer Wankhede and four others for allegedly seeking Rs 25 crore bribe for not framing Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case.

Aryan was arrested along with his friends in an alleged drug bust case on the Cordelia cruise ship on October 2, 2021. In the FIR, filed on the basis of a complaint from the NCB under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the India Penal code, the CBI along with Wankhede has also named Vishwa Vijay Singh, then superintendent, NCB, Ashish Ranjan, then intelligence officer of Mumbai zonal unit, NCB and two individuals - KP Gosavi and Sanvile D’Souza.

The CBI also carried out searches on May 12  at 29 locations associated to Wankhede and others across Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi, Lucknow, Chennai, Guwahati and other places and seized incriminating documents, articles and cash among other things which are under scrutiny.

It is alleged that IRS officer Wankhede and others had allegedly demanded Rs 25 crore bribe for not framing Aryan Khan in the alleged drug bust, they said. The CBI received information that Rs 50 lakh was allegedly collected by the officer and his accomplice as advance.

Eminent singer and the youngest daughter-in-law of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Kalyani Kazi died after a prolonged illness .

Kazi, the widow of Kazi Nazrul Islam's younger son Kazi Aniruddha, is survived by two sons and a daughter who lives in the US.

Amid the dark shadow of the deaths of three cheetahs in less than 45 days, five of the 17 Namibian and South African cheetahs housed in big enclosures at the Kuno National Park (KNP) are likely to be released into the open jungles of the park in Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district by the end of May.

The task force constituted by the central government to monitor the introduction of cheetahs at the KNP has given its nod for the release of at least five more cheetahs, including Namibian and South African felines, into the open jungles.

Once in the open jungles, the five cheetahs will join three Namibian cheetahs – female Aasha and male coalition Elton aka Gaurav and Freddy aka Shaurya, who were among the four cheetahs released into the open jungles in March.

According to the results announced by the state election commission, the Mizo National Front (MNF) emerged as the single largest party winning 10 out of 19 seats in the CADC.

A party is required to win 11 seats to secure an absolute majority in the 24-member CADC. Four members are nominated to the council.

Polling was held for 19 seats as the State Election Commission (SEC) had countermanded the election to the Rengkhashya constituency due to the death of the BJP candidate, who was allegedly killed in a clash on May 4.

The United Nations' top human rights body is holding a one-day emergency session on  May 12  in Sudan to draw attention to the killings, injuries and other abuses against civilians since the conflict between its two top generals erupted last month.

The Human Rights Council, which is made up of 47 UN member states, is set to vote on a resolution that would further scrutinize current human rights violations taking place in Sudan.

The call to hold the special session was led by Western countries.

Council member states - including Chile, Costa Rica, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan - joined the call for the special session.

The main co-sponsors of the draft resolution were all European, in addition to the United States.

The fighting in Sudan erupted in mid-April as a result of a power struggle between the chief of Sudan's military, Gen. Abdel Fattah Burhan, and rival Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who commands a powerful paramilitary group called the Rapid Support Forces, or RSF.

The conflict has so far claimed the lives of more than 600 people, including civilians, and displaced hundreds of thousands.

The violence has also spread to other regions, namely the restive Darfur province.

A group of Indian-origin men, including a father-son duo, have been convicted of running what Scotland Yard described as a large-scale fake pharmaceuticals drugs factory in west London.

The Metropolitan Police said its Cyber Crime Unit led an investigation after it received intelligence from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the US that the men were selling pharmaceutical drugs on the dark web.

Allen Valentine, his son Roshan Valentine, and Roshan's childhood friend Krunal Patel were found to be producing and selling Benzodiazepines, a type of sedative which is a Class C controlled drug.

The police said they made at least GBP 3.5 million in illicit profit with this operation.

The four Is refer to infrastructure - both physical and digital; investments - domestic and foreign; innovation to enhance the use of technology in the lives of people and inclusivity to ensure every citizen benefits from growth.

Referring to India’s commitment to the greening of the economy and the goals under Nationally Determined Contributions, especially in renewable energy, she said that the country has already achieved, with its own funds, 175 GW of solar energy, and now aims to achieve 300 GW by 2030.

She also said in the area of renewable energy, India has launched a National Hydrogen Mission.
