Edtech major Byju's has reported consolidated loss of Rs 4,588 crore in FY21 compared to Rs 262 crore in the previous fiscal. After an almost 18 months' delay, Byju's  parent Think and Learn on  on Sep 14 disclosed its financial results for FY21.

The company has received an unqualified report for FY21 from its auditor, Deloitte Haskins & Sells. The revenue for FY 21 of the group stood at Rs 2,428 crore.

India's exports rose marginally by 1.62 per cent to USD 33.92 billion and trade deficit more than doubled to USD 27.98 billion in August, data released by the commerce ministry said on Sep 14 .

Trade deficit in August 2021 stood at USD 11.71 billion. Imports rose by 37.28 per cent to USD 61.9 billion in August this year.

During April-August 2022-23, exports registered a growth of 17.68 per cent to USD 193.51 billion. Imports during the five-month period of this fiscal grew by 45.74 per cent to USD 318 billion.

Trade deficit widened to USD 124.52 billion in April-August this fiscal as against USD 53.78 billion in the same period last year.

The government on  Sep 14 approved the signing of guarantees for hosting the Under-17 FIFA Women's World Cup in India from October 11 to 30.

The approval of the Union Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, came after the re-constitution of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), which was banned by FIFA briefly last month citing "third party influence".

India is hosting the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Navi Mumbai, Goa and Bhubaneswar from October 11 to October 17 this year.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said Rs 60 crore will be spent for hosting the tournament that will see participation of 16 teams, including India.

An assistance of Rs 10 crore to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for field of play maintenance, stadium power, energy and cabling, stadia and training site branding will be met from the budgetary allocation for the Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations (NSFs), Thakur said.

The FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup would encourage more youngsters to participate in sports and help develop the sport of football in India.

The previous edition of the event was held in Uruguay in 2018 where Spain had emerged as the champion. In 2017, India successfully hosted the FIFA Under-17 Men's World Cup India-2017 at six different venues.

Former Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf has died after suffering a cardiac arrest in Lahore. He was 66. Rauf had made his first appearance as an umpire in international cricket in 2000.

He officiated in 64 Tests (49 as on-field umpire and 15 as TV umpire), 139 ODIs and 28 T20Is and was one of Pakistan's leading umpires in the mid 2000s.

Former India opener Robin Uthappa, one of the heroes of the 2007 T20 World Cup winning national team, on  Sep 14 announced his retirement from all forms of "Indian cricket".

The 36-year-old Uthappa, who last played for India in 2015.

Uthappa was part of the country's 2004 Under-19 World Cup team. He made his India debut two years later and featured in 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is for India.

He scored 934 and 249 runs in ODIs and T20Is. He has 9446 first class and 6534 List A runs under his belt. Uthappa has won two IPL trophies -- one for KKR and one for CSK in 2014 and 2021 respectively.

The Election Commission on Sep 13  ordered the delisting of another 86 'non-existent' registered unrecognised political parties, raising the number of such organisations red flagged by the poll panel for failing to comply with electoral rules to 537.

The decision was taken by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey.

It had similarly delisted 87 and 111 registered unrecognised political parties (RUPPs) on May 25 and June 20 respectively.

The decision against 253 non-compliant RUPPs was taken based on reports received from CEOs of Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

Independent MLA Akhil Gogoi was  on Sep 14 suspended for the duration of the Question Hour by Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary for "disrupting proceedings".

Gogoi was taken out of the House by two marshals.

The Sivasagar legislator had wanted to ask a supplementary question pertaining to the Education Department, which the Speaker disallowed.
