India will facilitate journalists from all G20 nations to cover the summit including those from China, said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). This comes amid a row between India and China over the revoking of credentials of each other's journalists. There is one Chinese journalist in India and two Indian journalists in China.

India has reiterated that foreign journalists, including Chinese, have been pursuing journalistic activities in India without limitations or difficulties in reporting.

India hopes that Chinese authorities facilitate the continued presence of Indian journalists in working and reporting from China. The two sides remain in touch regarding this issue.

Meanwhile, the Chinese side alleges that their journalists in India have suffered unfair treatment.

China says that it would like to maintain communication with India under the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has reiterated that India’s relationship with China is not normal.

India and China have several issues with each other – the biggest being the stand-off at the LAC. The recently held 27th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) which was held in-person did talk about disengaging from the LAC and restoring peace.

A day after Union home minister Amit Shah's appeal to surrender arms and ammunition before Manipur police, around 140 weapons were submitted at different places in the violence-hit Manipur

On Jun 1 , Shah warned of strict action against those who fail to surrender their weapons and announced combing operations to retrieve arms in the state, which has been rocked by ethnic clashes.

In a video Manipur police displayed the arms and ammunition collected from various places in the state. The surrendered weapons include SLR 29, Carbine, AK, INSAS Rifle, INSAS LMG, .303 Rifle, 9mm pistol, .32 pistol, M16 rifle, smoke gun and tear gas, locally made pistol, stun gun, modified rifle, JVP and a grenade launcher.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the chief minister’s office said at least 98 people lost their lives and 310 others were injured in the ethnic violence in Manipur. A total of 37,450 people are in 272 relief camps at present, it added.

Nine Indian nationals who were held captive in Libya for several months have been freed and will return to India soon.

These nine Indians were working for a merchant vessel (MT Maya 1) owned by a Greek company and were carrying a flag of Cameroon and were held captive by Libyan local militia after the ship broke down in the middle of February.

They were sailing from Malta to Tripoli carrying oil products when the ship broke down.

Of these nine Indians, five are from Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

The news of their being held captive reached Indian Embassy in Tunisia after which the matter was raised with authorities in Libya and sought consular access and their repatriation. The Indian mission kept in touch with the family members of these nine Indians and shared regular updates with them about their well-being.

An informal contact of the mission met these Indians held captive every week to ensure their early release and also provided them with essential food.

Turkiye'slongtime leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, took the oath of office, ushering in his third presidential term that followed three stints as prime minister.

Erdogan, 69, won a new five-year term in a runoff presidential race last week that could stretch his 20-year rule in the key NATO country that straddles Europe and Asia into a quarter-century.

The country of 85 million controls NATO's second-largest army, hosts millions of refugees and played a crucial role in brokering a deal that allowed the shipment of Ukraine grain, averting a global food crisis.

Erdogan was sworn in during a session in parliament before an inauguration ceremony at his sprawling palace complex.

Supporters waited outside parliament despite the heavy rain, covering his car with red carnations as he arrived.

Dozens of foreign dignitaries are travelling to attend the ceremony, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Carl Bildt, a high-profile former Swedish prime minister.

They are expected to press Erdogan to lift his country's objections to Sweden's membership in the military alliance -- which requires unanimous approval by all allies.

Turkiye accuses Sweden of being too soft on Kurdish militants and other groups that Turkiye considers to be terrorists.

NATO wants to bring Sweden into the alliance by the time allied leaders meet in Lithuania on July 11-12, but Turkiye and Hungary have yet to endorse the bid.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will also be attending the ceremony.

According to the state-run Anadolu Agency, other leaders in attendance include Azerbaijan's Ilham Aliyev, Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro, South Africa's Cyril Ramaphosa, Armenia's NikolPashinyan, Pakistan's Shahbaz Sharif, and Libya's Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.

Two Israeli soldiers were killed in a rare shooting on the Egyptian border, triggering a manhunt that saw one "assailant" killed inside Israel, the army said.

The army had initially declined to confirm the deaths, which were reported by Israeli media, while families were notified.

Separately, the army said troops had shot dead an assailant in Israeli territory near the border.

The Delhi High Court has ordered SpiceJet to pay Rs 380 crore to its former promoter Kalanithi Maran, Chairman of Sun Group, seeking an affidavit of assets from the budget airline within four weeks’ time. The latest direction issued by single-judge bench of Justice Yogesh Khanna was in relation to an old pending share transfer dispute between the parties -- the former promoter Maran and current promoter, Ajay Singh, and SpiceJet.

The high court pointed out that Spcejet has to follow the earlier apex court order in relation to the dispute.

As per the contention of Maran’s counsel, earlier liability of Rs 75 crore had not yet been deposited, and that the interest liability had gone from Rs 362 crore to Rs 380 crore. In the order dated May 29, Justice Yogesh Khanna noted that SpiceJet had failed to pay its debtor as per the earlier Supreme Court order and directed them to clear the outstanding amount.

The court will again hear the matter on September 5. Amid a financial crisis, Maran and Kal Airways had transferred their entire 35.04 crore equity shares in SpiceJet, amounting to 58.46% stake in the airline, to its co-founder Singh in February 2015 for just Rs 2.

Maran’s Kal Airways has to get a return of stock warrants and convertible redeemable preference shares from the airline, as per their agreement. Maran had approached the court after SpiceJet failed in issuing warrants or allot tranches of preference shares.

Yet another firm in Kochi fell victim to cybercrime, with a fraudster swindling nearly Rs 42 lakh from its bank account after duping one of its employees. As per the case registered by the police, an unknown person created a fake WhatsApp account of V Sunil Kumar, the managing director of Asset Homes, and sent a message to its chief financial officer (CFO) Deepak Thomas asking for money last week.

A similar fraud was reported in Aluva in January in which a spices extract manufacturing company lost Rs 45 lakh to Bihar-based cyber fraudsters.

In February, the Ernakulam Rural police arrested a Bihar native in connection with the case. The modus operandi was same; the finance officer received a message from the WhatsApp account having the picture of the MD demanding money.
